Tomoko Shimbo is a Speed Skier representing Japan in the premier S1 class.
Tomoko was born in Tokyo in Japan. When she attended Tokai University she joined a technical ski club for 4 years working on her ski technique.
Tomoko says she started speed skiing because she loves speed and she loves skiing. Her first race was in 2002, in Les Arcs. In 2007 she set her personal record 199.230 km/h at the Speed Masters competition back again in Les Arcs. She was away from the sport the seasons 2009 to 2013 having children. In 2014 she was back just outside the podium in Canada. At the end of the 2015 season in Idre she crashed badly and had to cancel her final race. Since then she's been recovering and building up her physics.
For 2018 Tomoko is back, racing in S1.
Tomoko lives in Ogden, Utah, but spends most of her time in Snowbasin where she works as a ski instructor.
