Philippe May

Philippe May is a Swiss speed skier in the Speed 1 class.

He grew up in the Swiss alps in Verbier. Despite the family not being big skiers, Philippe seemed to be bound for the slopes from an early age. Philippe was a competitive racer in all alpine events, but his favourite discipline was downhill. After a bad knee injury, he was forced to stop all sports for four years. After a lot of hard work and physical therapy, Philippe was able to return to the ski world. He aquired his ski instructor license and coached in alpine racing.

Philippe got involved in speed skiing around 1995. In the beginning he struggled, but in 2001 he found his sweet spot. Since then he's been stringing top 10 positions together like the most natural thing. A regular subscriber on podium positions. 64 top-3 positions between 2001 and 2017 is remarkable.

In 2006 Philippe hit the dream number 250 km/h, being the 5'th fastest skier in the world. 2017 was a short season for Philippe only competing in Andorra, but he still managed to set the new track record, proving he's still in the top of the speed skiing world.

Off season Philippe competes in endurance cycling events. He lives with the famous female speed skier Tracie May.
